Short and Sweet We Promise

We'll admit this is short and sweet. It's first come first serve for the characters, we don't want doubles of a character running around, though PB's, as long as we don't have 400 of the same face running around it's cool.

You will be alerted as soon as we can about getting your application. And as soon as the team of mods look it over you'll be informed of your acceptance.

If denied, we'll give you a chance to add in details that we think need a little brushing up on and a shot to try again. If you fail that time I'm sorry you won't be able to app that character to the game, though feel free to try another character.

Character Information

Character Name:Nathan Ford

Canon: Leverage

Background:

Nate was raised by his father Jimmy Ford, who taught him all the skills he really needed.  Jimmy was a bit of a con man and Nathan learned from watching him how to pull off jobs.

Though he didn’t start out as a criminal mastermind; Nate grew up and became an insurance investigator for IYS, the company he blames partially for his son’s death.  When Sam got sick there was a treatment that could have saved Sam’s life, IYS refused to pay for the treatment since it was experimental.  After that his life started to fall apart, he was fired from the company, and divorced his wife, even though he’s still in love with Maggie.

Eight years later he’s approached by Victor Dubenich, who has already pieced a team together to teal plane designs from a company that uses IYS for it’s insurance.

Nate is hesitant at first to take the job, but eventually does; only to find out he’s double crossed.  He’s more pissed that Victor used his son to get him to take the job, he enlists Sophie, who’m he’s had run ins with before.  Even though the team was gathered by Victor, they stick with Nate, becoming a modern day version of Robin Hood, filling the gap that the law tends to miss when it comes to the rich and powerful.

He and Sophie, living as a couple, eventually adopted a few kids, the first two being Parker and Alec.  The pair were a handful, but helped Nate repair some of what IYS had taken away from him when Sam had died.

After a while Nate, through the team’s hacker Hardison, found Eliot.  Working with the FBI he and Eliot Spencer the team’s Hitter helped to put Damian Moreau away.  Nate found younger Eliot, and kept an eye on him for a few days, making sure he didn’t get into trouble before approaching him.

He had a feeling the kid had been abused, and without asking Sophie he brought Eliot home, hoping to help the boy heal from his ordeals.  Caring for the kids has helped him with his drinking, he tries not to be drunk around them, especially Eliot.

The family’s moved from Boston to Santa Fe in order to get Eliot into another school, since most have kicked him out when he had episodes due to his background.

Nate’s still working jobs, trying his best to keep the kids out of it.  Though there are times where he knows they’ll get involved.  Nate’s determined to keep them safe, and would do anything for his kids and Sophie, or he’d die trying, they’re his whole life now.  Doesn’t mean he thinks less of the Leverage crew who has become closer to him than family.  There are some days that they’re the only thing keeping him from going over the edge.

Personality:

Nate is usually the man with the plan, he isn’t an expert on one thing, but has more than passing knowledge one a lot of things, which made him one of IYS’s best insurance guys.

Since he’s now a family man again though, well, the kids have first priority.  If they need something he does his best to make sure that they’re taken care of, even if this means that he’ll have to adjust a con.  Though he trusts his team is able to work without him if needed.  The kids have helped him deal with the loss of his son Sam.

Though if the job the Leverage team is working involves kids, he still tends to take it a little hard.  Nate refuses to let another family have to live through what he had with Sam’s death.  If it isn’t for the kids and Sophie to real him back he’s glad to have Eliot there to remind him what’s important, even though the team’s hitter tends to be just as bad as he is if kids are involved.

Nathan’s trying his best to make sure the kids don’t get into the family business, since he wants them to have normal lives, even though with Eliot he knows that may be impossible.  For now he’s trying to at least try to make things easier for Eliot, and make sure he doesn’t slip further into darker paths.

When it comes to his crew Nate’s slowly letting the others run cons, providing moral support when it comes to planning them.  He wants to be sure that if he ever does pull out, they’re still able to be the best team they can be.

If a con’s falling apart Nate, if possible will be the last person out of the area, making sure his team can escape clean.  Even though he’s the master mind, he cares about the others, doing his best to keep them out of trouble even though they’ve been doing their jobs longer than he’s been leading them.  This is because they have become family, without the team, or the kids he’d slowly be drinking himself to the grave.

Only person that he still ‘acts’ like nothing’s going on around is his ex-wife Maggie, whom he’s pulled away from more only because he doesn’t want her getting hurt because of his work.  She has a new life now, and he doesn’t want to interfere unless there’s no other choice.  After all, Sophie may be an expert at art, but Maggie is better.

Despite living with Sophie he hasn’t asked her to marry him yet, not sure if he’s really ready to take that plunge yet again.  Every chance he gets though he spoils her, be it shopping in Paris before coming back from a job in Europe, or simple things like cooking dinner for two.

When it comes to his adopted son Eliot he’s probably a little more careful about drinking around him.  He doesn’t want to give the kid flashbacks to his childhood before Moreau.  He’s also careful not to push the kid into doing too much too fast, other than school, he knows the kid skips out, and doesn’t blame him knowing that things get hard, but he does try to get him tutors to help so he doesn’t get too far behind.

Abilities: Not so criminal master mind. Though he walks the fine line. It's his job to make sure his team has a plan and works both together like a well oiled machine and as separate entities in order to 'Robin Hood' from the rich and evil.

Weaknesses:
His family is a major weakness for him, Nate would drop anything to make sure his adopted son is safe. He also has control issues, always needing to be in control, and a drinking problem, that he refuses to admit he has.
